Same old Valentine's Day

Here I am, standing in solitude,
My heart is left vacant, once again.
Must You always add an interlude,
And interrupt things like drops of rain?

I know that You give and take away,
But I really want to be with her.
Being with her till my hair turns grey,
Is something I always desire.

There she is, still running in my head,
I don't know when that's going to end.
Ah, wouldn't life be an escapade,
If she was meant to be my girlfriend?

Now every night I dream of that day,
When in my heart she will be replaced.
Then her face and voice will fade away,
With all memories of her erased.

Bloody Tuesday

heh. 2nd blood donation. reminds me of last yr's.

everything seemed the same, except a few things:
1. i wasn't feeling as jittery as last yr.
2. half the school cohort was not there due to JAE.
3. didn't get to miss any lesson like last yr.
4. didn't have to wait long due to small number of donors.
5. the 06S23 blood donor force increased in its membership.

6. photos n videos were taken of my bloody experience.
7. my dilemma was diff frm last yr's.

lemme elucidate on the last difference. last yr i was struggling w/ whether to donate due to fear of pain, whereas this time i was struggling w/ whether to donate due to a post-donation activity, like fitness trg. in the end, i gave in due to peer pressure. i tot i cud take the post-donation 'weakness'. aft fitness trg, i realised i made a mistake. i didn't hit the quota for fitness trg. i regret donating those few ml of blood.

don't try to convince me tt i can save 3 lives by donating my blood.
don't try to distract me frm the fact tt i failed to meet the expectation.

alright, on a lighter note, lemme mention something i saw while i was slacking by the side when the rest continued. i witnessed how the various CCAs were fighting their glands out for the college they belong to. it was so heartening to see the unity in these CCAs in fighting for one common goal. anyway i've got Physics SPA tmr so i gotta bring this entry to an abrupt halt.

JAE 2007

hmmm since it's the JAE period, i shall reminisce abt mine last yr. this was wat i posted last yr:

My O Level results in different perspectives

back frm collecting my results.

back early cos there's nth to celebrate abt.
just something to thank God for.

L1R5: 12

kinda expected it.
been dreaming abt this magical number.
my prelim was moderated frm 22 to 12.
it was a great moderation.
so i tot my O's wud be arnd 12 too.

was praying tt i'd be able to stay in SAJC.
i have 4 bonus points.
2 loyalty points.
2 CCA points.
so i needed 13 or less to remain in Science stream.
15 or less for Arts stream.

i was praying for a nice number.
i didn't want 13 cos i heard it's an unlucky number.
i noe i'm not supposed to be superstitious.
but i preferred nicer numbers like 9, 10, 11 n 12.
my favourite is 14 but i didn't want it to be my L1R5.
only 12 kept flashing in my mind.
the other numbers were too unrealistic.

i think it's God's will.
12 is a Biblical number.
Jesus had 12 disciples.
then there were 12 tribes mentioned in the Bible.
n we have 12 days of Christmas.
okay tt's all i can think abt the number 12.

English - A2
Higher Chinese - B3
Chinese - A1
E Maths - A1
A Maths - B3
Physics - B3
Chemistry - B4
History - B3
Comb. Humans - A2

looking on the gloomy side:
i tot i cud get a distinction for Higher Chinese.
i tot i cud get a distinction for A Maths.
i tot i cud get a distinction for History.
i tot i cud get a distinction for Physics.
my school did very badly this yr.
i didn't do as well as some of my friends.

looking on the bright side:
i didn't expect to get a distinction for English.
i didn't expect to get a distinction for Comb. Humans.
i didn't expect to pass my Chemistry.
i think i can still stay in SAJC.
12 is quite a good score for a retainee like me.

in general, i still feel crestfallen.
i noe i shdn't be feeling this way.
cos it cud have been worse.
it's only by God's grace tt i got a decent L1R5.
n i ought to be content w/ wat i have now.

but i can't help feeling slightly more negative thn positive.
when i saw my L1R5, i felt the same as i did 5 yrs ago.
when i got my PSLE score i was oso crestfallen.
251 may seem very good to many.
but to me at tt point of time, i wasn't content.

similarly i don't seem to be content today.
12 is decent but i wanted more.
wat to do, i didn't do my best.
5 yrs in secondary school yet cudn't excel.

so at the end of today, i still feel sad.

i mourn for myself.
tt i'm not thanking God enough for His mercy.
i mourn for my school.
tt her standard has dropped a lot.
i mourn for my principal n teachers.
tt they slogged so hard.yet they can't see the fruits of their labour today.
i mourn for my fellow green-shorts mates.
tt we (most of us) have let our alma mater down.

pls let me mourn n brood over this for some time.
i'm sure i'll get over this soon.

just wanna thank those who have been being there for me.
w/o these ppl, i wud've fared worse than 12.
you noe who you are.
thks.
i will need encouragements again for my promos n A Levels.

Glen dunked at 2/10/2006 5:18:01 pm

hmmm. this yr i rejoice tt my alma-mater did pretty well. i heard our mean L1R5 is 9.5 while my batch last yr got 12._ (can't rem). anyway congrats to Mr Lee Hak Boon n all Catholic High teachers as well as my green-shorts juniors!

An Inconvenient Truth

Highly Recommended.
should watch. really. altho it was a sleep-inducing film to many of my peers, i found it very interesting. heh. perhaps bcos i have a heart for the environment, despite looking fwd to the Armageddon. haha so ironic n paradoxical.

aft watching this film, i'm encouraged to apply wat i've learnt frm Al Gore: "Each one of us is a contributor of global warming but each one of us can make choices to change that."
thus, to reduce the carbon emissions that i'm gonna produce this lifetime, i shall just cease to breathe n die. the amt of carbon emitted frm my corpse wud be less as compared to tt emitted frm my living body for the rest of my life! cool reasoning huh?
haha i'm not agnst Al Gore or anything la. in fact, i agree w/ him tt tackling terrorism may be impt, but tackling the global warming issue is as urgent. think abt this: yes, terrorism acts may kill tens, hundreds, or even thousands at one go, but global warming is as devastating bcos in the long run, we can bid goodbye to many of those living in low-lying areas all over the world, albeit in a more gradual n slower process thn terrorism. where n how shd we start tackling this issue?
as Al Gore so tersely n aptly put it, "Political will is a renewable resource."

Grudges

today's service has quietened myself down, esp aft the 2 incidents (Zoo & Yoong), n has made me ponder upon my identity as a follower of Jesus Christ.

my church celebrates Communion once every 2 weeks n this morning we celebrated it. i was reminded of wat i learnt during my baptism/confirmation classes tt if i hold any grudge agnst anyone n refuse to reconcile w/ him/her/them at the time of a Communion service, i ought not to go up n recv the body n blood of Christ.

immediately, those 2 incidents flashed across my mind. i was mentally struggling. one side of my heart told me to just continue bearing these 2 grudges agnst Greenview Secondary School n Mr Yoong, n forget abt recving Communion. but the other side of my heart told me, "Stop giving yourself an excuse to hate ppl! God's giving you a chance to forgive others so tt He can forgive you."

i began to search my heart there n then. i felt so ashamed of myself for refusing to let go of my wrath, when God forgives me time n again, no matter how i sinned agnst Him. nth can justify my sins b4 the holy presence of God except God Himself! aft a few moments, w/ the help of the Holy Spirit, i finally managed to let go of my grudges agnst those Greenview players, the referee, n Mr Yoong.

i dunno if i'd be able to resist holding any grudge in the future, but for the past grudges, i'm just gonna forget abt them. no, i'm gonna forgive, but i'm not gonna forget, cos there're always lessons to learn frm such incidents, for both myself n the other party.

Matthew 6:9-15
This is how you should pray:
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sinned against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

1 Peter 4:8
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Traumatised

Jonathan Yoong Yin Meng
the scourge of Glen's life

Glen Abraham Liang Yuxuan
probably also the scourge of Jonathan's life

wah. this is the 1st time i'm so traumatised by a mere teacher. i admit i fear him now altho i've lost my respect for him. i really hope that this fear in me will somehow make me do well in History in the A levels. but perhaps this is a fat hope. i don't care whether i pass his tests onot. anyway he's the one who sets the passing mark (15/25 specially for me) n he's the one who marks my paper, do you think he'll let me pass? i'd be over the Ban Ki-moon if he's gonna let me pass, but i'm sure he won't, no matter how much effort i put in, so why shd i even try?

What's wrong with the world mama?
People living like ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world's addicted to the drama
Only attracted to the things that bring you trauma
Overseas yeah we tryin' to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA, the Bloodz and the Crips and the KKK

But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And if you hatin you're bound to get irate
Yeah madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
You gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love y'all
