Father Time
Man alone chimes the hour.
And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralysing fear that no other creature endures - a fear of time running out.
As mankind grew obsessed with its hours, the sorrow of lost time became a permanent hole in the human heart. People fretted over missed chances, over inefficient days; they worried constantly about how long they would live, because counting life's moments had led, inevitably, to counting them down.

Throwback to NTU IHG Track & Field relay
It's easy to start a new initiative but to follow through till the end and still finish strong, it's a different matter altogether. Sometimes you have to pass the baton on to someone else to finish what you've started.

Dear editorial team of Pioneer Magazine,
Your November story 'Still going strong' which featured Army regular-turned-PE teacher, LTC (Ret) Kok, has inspired me deeply.
I'm currently a PE teacher teaching in a primary school and I'm impressed by LTC (Ret) Kok's desire to join the physically challenging fraternity at his age! He has truly exemplified the epitome of lifelong physical fitness.
What struck me most when I read your article is his goal of continuing to influence young people even after his retirement from the Army. I'm indeed inspired to continue staying fit as well as to impart lifelong values to those under my care.
It's such an encouragement to see LTC (Ret) Kok devoting his life to defending and moulding the future of our nation!
Yours sincerely,
Glen A. Liang

Interstellar
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
- Dylan Thomas, 1914 - 1953
