Merit Punishment
The irony of doing well the things you get 'arrowed' to do is you get 'arrowed' to do more things, and the vicious cycle goes on and on ...

Cycling past memorable places
Just came back from cycling at nearby neighbourhoods.
Went past Catholic High School, my alma-mater and Ministry of Education Language Centre (MOELC) where i studied Malay as a 3rd Language.
Many memories flashed through my mind as i slowed down my speed.
Memories of my early teenage days of green shorts and hirsute legs.
Then on my way back home, i cycled past St. Andrew's Junior College, another alma mater.
Reminded of my late teenage days of blue-white-striped ties and painful braces.
What a nice way to spend my day off ...

God's answer to me
Previously i mentioned about being choked by the cares of the world.
As i was reading my Bible earlier this week, i found an answer to which i must take action.
It was found in Romans 12:2.
The New International Version (NIV) says, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
The Message (MSG) version gives a elaborate explanation:
Place Your Life Before God (Romans 12: 1,2)
"Here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life — your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life — and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."

Choked by the cares of the world
The Parable of the Sower
Matthew 13: 3b-8 (English Standard Version)
"A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."
The Parable of the Sower Explained
Matthew 13: 19-23 (English Standard Version)
"When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path. As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty."
Been a Christian for slightly more than a decade.
But recently my spiritual disciplines are being choked with the things of this fallen world instead of being overwhelmed with Godly things.
i'm turning into a "Sunday Christian".
Sucks not having a sense of God's will in my daily life like i used to.
